Elon Musk returned to talk about Bitcoin during the B Word conference, an event on the world of cryptocurrencies organized by Jack Dorsey and Cathie Wood. SpaceX CEO confirmed Tesla will soon return to accept Bitcoin for the purchase of its cars. In March, Elon Musk criticized Bitcoin, accusing it of excessive energy consumption due to mining. Musk has changed his mind due to the green turn of the major miners, who have confirmed that they want to use only renewable energy.
“I wanted statements on the confirmation that the percentage of use of renewable energy was equal to or greater than 50% – explained Elon Musk – I see that there is a certain tendency to increase this percentage”. In this case Tesla could resume accepting Bitcoin.
Tesla had begun accepting Bitcoin payments for its cars in March, and it is estimated that the value of the crypto market increased thanks to these statements. Shortly thereafter, however, Musk had suspended payments, according to what he had declared as a result of concerns about the rapid increase in the use of fossil fuels used to produce electricity needed for the mining processes. On June 13, Musk anticipated a return to Bitcoin payments if major miners started using clean energy.
The declaration of the return to Bitcoin naturally generated a price increase, which exceeded the $ 30,000 mark, leading the cryptocurrency to exceed $ 32,000.
