Florida could become the cryptocurrency world’s center. The goal of Miami Mayor Francis Suarez is to make the city the most attractive in the United States for the crypto and blockchain industry. This project made Suarez popular in the crypto community, as well as helping to attract funds from tech investors.
“We want to ride the next wave of innovation”, he said in an interview with the New York Times, convinced of “reshaping” the city’s image.
These statements are in addition to those released by Suarez recently: under his leadership, in fact, Miami is evaluating the possibility of allowing municipal employees to be paid in Bitcoin. But also to pay local taxes and fees using cryptocurrencies, as well as investing city funds in virtual currencies.
Mayor Suarez has not provided a precise window on when he intends to implement these changes. For now, “Bitcoin 2021”, an important crypto-themed conference, has announced that it will move from Los Angeles to Miami for its edition this year.
