Visa executive says cryptos have become cool thanks to NFT’s

Cuy Sheffield, Visa head of crypto, said investing in cryptocurrencies has gotten much more attractive thanks to an influx of creative types drawn to the expanding non-fungible token industry. Sheffield spoke on the first day of the Singapore FinTech Festival on Monday. She said that a whole new class of mainstream users are pouring into cryptocurrencies and that NFTs are attracting people with a wide range of interests, such as music, art and culture, who are “creating cryptocurrency wallets in waves”.

Cuy Sheffield said in more detail that “Crypto is becoming cultural, it’s becoming cool […] It used to be that if you were investing in crypto, you were kind of weird.” adding that “The ability to track and leverage a digital asset in multiple environments could mean exciting new opportunities in ticketing, gaming music, art and beyond”.

Sheffield believes that the merging of the entertainment industries with NFT technology could see crypto wallets become something of a super-application where users can discover new content related to their interests rather than simply a way to hold digital assets.
